The Good Bottle’s story is deeply connected to the vision of The Mirpuri Foundation, which has long been committed to environmental causes such as ocean protection and climate change mitigation.

In 2017/18, The Mirpuri Foundation embarked on a transformative journey when they decided to participate in the Volvo Ocean Race with a boat named Turn the Tide on Plastic. This race around the world was not just a test of sailing skills, but also a powerful platform to raise awareness about the growing crisis of ocean plastic pollution.

What started as a campaign to raise awareness about the devastating impact of single-use plastics soon evolved into something much bigger. After the race, the Mirpuri Foundation realized that they needed to take further action to ensure a lasting, positive impact on the environment. They understood that simply raising awareness was not enough, and they set out to make a tangible difference.

As a result, the foundation decided to sponsor research aimed at finding a sustainable solution to replace single-use plastics. This research culminated in 2021 with the presentation of The Good Bottle, a biodegradable bottle designed to carry mineral water in a much more sustainable way. Unlike traditional plastic bottles, The Good Bottle was created using an innovative biopolymer that is compostable and biodegradable, breaking down naturally without leaving harmful residues in the environment.

This step marked a major milestone in the foundation’s mission to reduce plastic pollution, offering industries and consumers an alternative to single-use plastics. The Good Bottle not only reflects the foundation’s continued commitment to sustainability but also its determination to continue the fight against climate change and ocean pollution.

"We need to find a new balance between progress and sustainability
if we want to survive in the long term."
